Asene Manso Akroso Assembly Fails To Elect a Presiding Member After Two consecutive Times of Elections The Asene Manso Akroso Assembly (AMA) in the Eastern Region has been unable to elect a Presiding Member (PM) after two consecutive days of voting held on Thursday 26th February and Wednesday 4th March 2026 respectively. The first election which occured on Thursday 26th February saw the incumbent, Hon. Enoch Ofori Eden, securing 11 votes, and Hon. Andrew Dough obtaining 21.  Per Section 27 of the Local Governance Act (Act 936), the Presiding Member must be elected by at least two-thirds of Assembly members. With 34 members in the Assembly, a candidate requires a minimum of 23 votes to be elected.  In effect, the assembly members agreed the meeting be postponed and resume within ten days for another election to determine who becomes the next PM for the assembly.
