Alpha Lotto Limited Not Part Of Fraudulent/Illegal Lottery Operators.....NLA Fraudulent Allegations Debunked



One of the five (5) legally registered private Lotto operations, ALPHA LOTTO LIMITED has publicly debunked a publication issued by the public relations unit of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), published in some major media platforms on 13th February,2021, to the effect that "the only operational and functional official short code of the National Lottery Authority is *959# and any other platform operating digital is fraudulent and illegal"


In a statement released by the management of ALPHA LOTTO, respectfully called on NLA to hasten the agreed Nationwide public sensitization programme before the expiration of the agreed moratorium period to assist Ghanaian Lotto patrons to understand NLA's collaboration, licensing and regulatory arrangement with the Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA) and restore public confidence in NLA licensed private sector Lottery Operations in Ghana.

Alpha Lotto Limited argued the general public and patrons to ignore the said misleading publication from NLA public relations unit and continue to patronize Alpha Lotto Games.

The attention of the management of ALPHA LOTTO LIMITED has been drawn to a statement purported to have been issued by the public relations unit of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), published in online media platforms, myjoyonline, peacefmonline, adomonline, yen, Ghanaweb and moderghana on 13th February 2021, to the effect that the only operational and functional official short code of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) is *959#. Any other platform operating digital is fraudulent and illegal.

This said publication has also been repeated in the print media and captured on page 48 of the daily graphic on Monday February 15, under the headlined 'Don't patronise illegal digital short code...NLA warns public ', page 7 of the Ghanaian Times headlined " NLA warns public against fraud or illegal mobile came" and also published in the New crusading guide the chronicle, the Ghanaian publisher, supreme, daily stateman, the herald, the Ghanaian observer.


The management of ALPHA LOTTO LIMITED wish to inform its patrons that Alpha Lotto Limited is licensed by NLA to operate VAG 5/90 fixed ODDs games and does not operate the Short code *959#, instead for NLA's 5/90 games.

Alpha Lotto Limited does not operate NLA's 5/90 games under Act 722 (2006)

Alpha Lotto Limited per its NLA license operate its own games under Act 844 (2012), on its independent platforms and marketed through Short code *896#.

Alpha Lotto Limited operations is fully complaint with NLA's registration and code _NLA_ALL_1_20 (signed by NLA director general, dated 1st July 2020) under VAG  ACT Act 844 (2012).

Management wishes to state that under the terms of registration and licensing of private sector operators are required to market their lottery products using digital service (End-to-end) as NLA has banned the physical writing of lottery from a booklet or paper in other for NLA to electronically monitor VAG lottery licenses operations.

Background


Alpha Lotto Limited is one of the five (5) legal (registered) private Lotto operators dully licensed to operate VAG lottery under Act 844 (2012).

Alpha Lotto received its license following two months NLA Board sanctioned negotiation led by the director general between NLA and the Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA) in October 2019 to restore the license of private sector operators who previously held NLA Lottery license before the take over of the VAG's lottery operations by NLA.

Following the conclusion of negotiation at Alisa hotel between October and December 2019. Alpha Lotto Limited and four (4) other Lotto companies were adjudged to have met the criteria set by the NLA and we're dully licensed to operate vag Lotto under VAG ACT, Act 844 (2012). This announced officially at a public ceremony captured by the Ghanaian traditional and online media on the 14th January 2020 and published on the 15th January 2020 under the auspices of the board of directors and the director general of NLA. Alpha Lotto Limited is therefore not fraudulent or illegal as alleged by the public relations unit.

The management of ALPHA LOTTO LIMITED wishes to assure the Ghanaian Lotto patrons that its operations are legally sanctioned by the NLA under VAG ACT, Act 844 (2012) and that there is nothing "fraudulent or illegal" about its operations.

The allegations made against Alpha Lotto Limited by NLA public affairs unit is regrettable and there by misconceived, malicious, misleading and uninformed.

Alpha Lotto Limited is still committed to private sector participation in Ghana and is respectfully calling on NLA to hasten the agreed Nationwide public sensitization programme before the expiration of the agreed moratorium period to assist Ghanaian Lotto patrons to understand NLA's collaboration, licensing and regulatory arrangement with the Ghana Lotto Operators Association GLOA and restore public confidence in NLA licensed private sector Lottery Operations in Ghana.


In the premises, Alpha Lotto Limited wishes to inform its patrons to ignore the said misleading publication from the NLA public relations unit, and continue to patronize Alpha Lotto Games.
