Restore Our Durbar Grounds Now To Serve It's Purpose......Assin Akropong Youth Association Warns DHM Construction Company Limited

We the undersigned write this letter to bring to your attention something we believe is unfair and requires attention. Our durbar grounds was built to be used for social gatherings and it served its purpose for years since its establishment until the DHM contractor who is supposed to construct our road destroyed part with the intention to construct a drainage. Unfortunately, he had abandoned the project and this has become problematic.

In view of this, the durbar grounds can no longer serve its purpose and this has caused so much displeasure for the natives of Assin Akropong.

Also, the contractor left equipment and tools, building materials on the road and this has narrowed the road which is affecting motorist.

Moreover, shops around the affected places has been shut down so economic activities there has gone down. The abandoned drainage has also become a death trap due to its nature because a native recently accidentally fell and got injured severely.

We therefore, request you take appropriate action inorder for the contractor to get back and continue the project speedily so that our plights would be resolved especially, the restoration of our durbar grounds.

Enclosed are pictures of the state of our durbar grounds for your perusal.

BRAKO Diamonds were first discovered in the Gold Coast Colony (Ghana) near the Birim River close to the town of Abomosu in 1919. The Birim diamond discoveries led mining companies to invest along that river. However, not until 1929 did organized diamond mining begin following additional diamond discoveries made by Ghanaian prospectors in the gravels of Bediebewu streams near Tarkwa. In 1924, the Consolidated African Selection Trust (CAST) was formed and became the major diamond mining company in Ghana. Over 2 million carats were mined by CAST from 1924 to 1939. CAST’s early success led to investment in other diamond exploration and mining ventures in West Africa particularly in Ghana – resulting in the establishment of Great Consolidated Diamond (GCD).  1n 1963 Lake Asubone was created artificially in Asubone near Akwatia in Denkyembour District of Gh...
