MINORITY IS LOWERING THE INTEGRITY OF GHANA'S 7TH PARLIAMENT

MINORITY IS LOWERING THE INTEGRITY OF GHANA'S 7TH PARLIAMENT

To us, a true citizen is the one who speaks truth to authority and challenges the foundations of a weird status quo which keeps demeaning humanity and increases the vulnerability of the ordinary people.

Concerned Youth in Politics, have observed with keen objectivity that, Ghana's Democracy has been dominated by the most minutest proportion of its population called Parliamentarians.

Out of the estimated thirty million (30,000,000) population, only two hundred and seventy five (275), which is less than one percent of the population (0.0009 %) represents us at the house of records.

The irony is that, instead of that privileged insignificant numbers to accord Ghanaians some level of respect for enjoying our mandate, they have rather resorted to irresponsible antagonism for political expediency.

These 275 people, are enjoying privileges and unparalleled comfort under the guise of Common Fund, Getfund, NHIA fund among others, sponsored by the ordinary citizens and yet, claim, that, they are not agents for development.

This article has been triggered by the barbaric act of boycott, staged by the minority in February, 2019, during the swearing in of a validly elected member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan in the January bye - elections.

Again, the decision by the minority to decline commenting on the maiden  statement of the said MP on Monday, 8th April 2019 is extremely unintelligent and smacks of immaturity.

Gradually, the few minority MPs with some modicum of integrity are trading it with childish pettiness oblivious of the consequences that awaits them in the next elections.

The time has come for civil society organisations, the Christian Council, the Peace Council, the National Chief Imam, and the youth of Ghana, to call these bunch of nation wreckers to order before some of us describe their actions in plain language.

C/R: Assin Oboba Kokorowa Pupils Are Forced To Study In Dilapidated And Death Trap Building The fate of over 500 pupils at the Assin Obobakokrowa D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region hangs in the balance as they learn under dilapidated structures. The the Assin Obobakokrowa D/A Basic School has not seen any major rehabilitation since its establishment in 1970s. Parents and residents in and around the community are appealing for urgent assistance due to the deteriorating condition of their classroom blocks .  The school's infrastructure has become unsafe, forcing pupils to learn under dire circumstances. Parts of the aluminum roofing sheets are rusting away, while their remains hang loosely on the tiny erected concrete pillars. Class sessions end abruptly whenever the clouds gather.  “Our roof is ripping off. And when it rains, it leaks into our classroom, so we have to end classes.  “When it leaks, our books get wet and we are not able...
