Lets Collaborate To End Galamsey......Western South Regional Cocobod Manager


As part of government's efforts to end galamsey, in  Western South region, the Western South regional manager for  Ghana COCOBOD Mr Samuel Asare Ankamah has urged  Chiefs to exercise patient with Cocoa Farmers on thier land tendering as they involve themselves in the nationwide Cocoa rehabilitation exercise.

 Mr Ankamah stated that, over million achre's lands of cocoa farms has been affected by cocoa swelling shoot which there is a need for COCOBOD to cut down cocoa trees and replant new ones for  the good and quality  of cocoa seeds, which won't be rejected on foreign market. But due to the land tendering cocoa farmers find it difficult to partake in the exercise.

He added that the acquesition of Lands to galamsey workers has affected cocoa farming in the western South region, which has make cocoa farming much difficult for cocoa Farming.

The chief of Wasa Wanntram  who doubles as Gyasehene for Wasa Akropong Traditional council,  Nana Kwame Danka II therefore urged chiefs and Landlord's to understand the works of cocoa farmers on lands acquisition to pave way for the nationwide Cocoa rehabilitation exercise.

Secondary,  Nana advice the youth to partake themselves into cocoa farming, and desist from galamsey works for cocoa farming is can generate more income for the future.

He therefore urged His Excellency the President of Ghana mentain Hon Joseph Boahen Audio, COCOBOD director for him to continue serve Ghanians for his good work done. And also put much effort on the construction cocoa roads in the western South region.
