NDC Government Spent Over $450 Million On Non-existent Cocoa Roads But Akuffo Addo Is Fixing Them--Abronye D.C Alleges

The Bono Regional Chairman for the N.P.P Chairman Kwame Baffo Abronye D.C has said although the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government spent over $450 million on non-existent cocoa roads in the country the N.P.P government is bent on fixing them.

He said former state officials under President John Mahama, who introduced the cocoa roads project, used it (project) to steal from the public purse.

Chairman Abronye was speaking at a commissioning of a 6 unit classroom block at Akwasua in the Sunyani West Municipality which was engineered by the Member of Paliament for the area, Hon Ignatius Baffour Awuah.

Reacting on the construction of rural roads he said government upon detecting fraudulent contracts awarded under strange circumstances had to suspend road construction under cocoa projects in order to procure value for money especially money coming from the sweat of modest cocoa farmers.

He said COCOBOD had to announced the suspension of the cocoa roads projects after an interim audit had revealed a lot of discrepancies in the actual amounts of money spent on the entire projects but recently roads  constructions in the country have seen a tremendous increase.

According to him president Akuffo Addo stands for truth, accountability, transparency and above all value for money and therefore Ghanaians should renew the trust imposed in him coming 2020 elections.

Chairman Abronye stress that, government is working assiduously to fixed the bad roads in the country but may need an ample time hence a major reason he deserves another term in office.

According to him, President Akuffo Addo has awarded most of the deplorable roads for construction which the results will soon manifest itself not in the "green book" but will be a living testimony for all to see.

BRAKO Diamonds were first discovered in the Gold Coast Colony (Ghana) near the Birim River close to the town of Abomosu in 1919. The Birim diamond discoveries led mining companies to invest along that river. However, not until 1929 did organized diamond mining begin following additional diamond discoveries made by Ghanaian prospectors in the gravels of Bediebewu streams near Tarkwa. In 1924, the Consolidated African Selection Trust (CAST) was formed and became the major diamond mining company in Ghana. Over 2 million carats were mined by CAST from 1924 to 1939. CAST’s early success led to investment in other diamond exploration and mining ventures in West Africa particularly in Ghana – resulting in the establishment of Great Consolidated Diamond (GCD).  1n 1963 Lake Asubone was created artificially in Asubone near Akwatia in Denkyembour District of Gh...
