“I Will Make Agro-industry The Backbone Of Assin Central” — Mr Kwaddwo Baidoo Assures NPP Delegates
An aspiring parliamentary hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin Central Constituency, Mr Eric Kwadwo Baidoo popularly known as "Brother" has promised to transform the area into an agro-industrial enclave if he becomes the Member of Parliament (MP).
Well known in the area as “Brother”, the enterprising businessman in his late 40s is optimistic about harnessing the natural resource endowments of the area to make agro-processing the economic backbone of the area.
“Empowering the citizenry to improve their welfare is my ultimate satisfaction. Assin Central is the heart of Assin and I’m well determined to oxygenate it for the betterment of all.
“The topmost priority of my vision is to build factories in our constituency endowed with rich resources such as coconut, palm oil, and sugar cane through value addition,” Mr. Baidoo told NPP delegates at a meeting in Assin Fosu on Monday.
The agro-industrialization drive, he indicated, was the next natural stage in the quest for structural transformation of Ghana and Assin was no exception.
The envisioned agro-industrialization comes under his campaign tag: “Adidi Daa Yɛ Kyɛn Adidi Prɛko", which seeks to propagate his seven prompt strategic policy plans to be implemented in the four years to support the party and the constituency.
They include agriculture, health, entrepreneurship, agro-based manufacturing, education, life and health insurance, and water, sanitation and health.
In fulfillment of his support for all, Mr. Baidoo said he had supported delegates who had skills but lacked the logistics to start their businesses worth thousands of Cedis.
The items include 10 industrial sewing machines, two drilling machines, cocoa spraying machines, 350 fertilizers, and six deep freezers.
Mr Baidoo had also provided cash support and soft loans to some people to expand their businesses to create more employment to become economically self-reliant.
“The people of Assin cannot continue to live under the benevolence of people. This is the time for us to work with one accord to untie the poverty knot that has strung us and return the area onto a smooth trajectory of development in freedom," he advised.
Swaying the delegates, Mr Baidoo affirmed his candidature as a perfect replacement for Hon Kennedy Agyapong, the outgoing MP to restore the almost-lost hope of the constituents.
Some delegates who had received support from Mr Baidoo expressed their profound gratitude to him and in appreciation pledged to vote massively for him.
