Twifo-Atimokwaa Constituency NDC parliamentary Candidate Donates Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) To Several Communities



NDC parliamentary candidate for Twifo-Atimokwaa Constituency of the central region Hon. David Kwadwo Vondee, has donated assorted items to Twifo Praso Government Hospital and traditional Leaders of several communities in the Twifo-Atimokwaa district of the central region to help in the fight against the COVID-19.

Hon. Chief David Vondee donated Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers and plastic containers among others to the government hospital and some selected communities in the district on Tuesday.


The delegation who joined hands in the distribution of the items include, the NDC Constituency Secretary, Former Member of Parliament in the name Hon. Ato Amoah, the Constituency chairman and other Constituency Executives urged the authorities to enforce the directives of the President as they will help curb the spread of the Coronavirus. Hon. Vondee re-echoed the need for regular hand washing, and hence the purpose of the donation to the district.


Furthermore, Hon Vondee expressed that it was necessary everybody joins hands in the fight and that he is ready to help in any regards within his capacity to ensure that his constituents are safe. According to him, he has taken notice of the many challenges being encountered in the fight so far and that his donation is to complement what he has done.


The Omanhene of Twifo Traditional council Nana Oberempong Appiah Nuamah II, after receiving the items thanked Mr Vondee for his support in the fight against Coronavirus and assured that, the items would be put to good use. He also advised the general public especially the natives of Twifo Traditional area to adhere to the government's directives of fighting against Coronavirus.


The Twifo Praso Government hospital nurse manager, Madam Akua Asantewaa-Adjei expressed her joy for the kind gesture extended by the National Democratic Congress. She said, the love and kindness by Hon Chief David Vondee is what has kept them running and that the complementary donation by the parliamentary candidate, Hon. David Vondee was timely. She promised to make good use of whatever donated to the hospital to the benefit of all. She added that the facility still need so many other things like PPEs and test kits to enable them confront the situation.


Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Twifo-Atimokwaa District Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi disclosed on Twifo Praso based radio station sweet fm morning show that the District Assembly will be disinfecting markets in the district on Monday 6th April, 2020.

The coronavirus pandemic in Ghana is an ongoing viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a novel infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first two cases of COVID-19 in Ghana during the 2019–20 worldwide pandemic was confirmed on 12March 2020, when two people returned from Norway and Turkey.Ghana currently has 161 confirmed cases with 5 death cases. In the central region where Hon. David Vondee is located, there are several alleged cases of affected person. But central regional health service has debunked the allegations. The Regional Health Directorate has not yet recorded any case at the time of this report.
