Weed Smoking War Leads To Closure Of Kyerɛmase Basic School

Elders, teachers and stakeholders of Kyeremase in Asene Manso Akroso district of the Eastern Region has temporaly closed Kyerɛmase D/A basic school due to security concerns following clashes between suspected weed smokers and teachers in the community over two-three weeks now.

According to the report, some young guys in the community were seen by one of the teachers after school hours smoking weed in the class rooms hence he confronted them to asked them to refrain from such activity in the class. The harmless confrontation by the teacher angered the youths to extend of threatening the life of the teacher.

The teacher thereafter reported the case at Akim Akroso district police command, police acted on the report, upon reaching the residence of one of the suspects, he pulled out machete and chanced out the security officers.

In respect to that, Akim Akrosohene Osaberima Kwabena Ofori (II) together with his elders arranged emergency meeting with the elders of Kyerɛmase community on how they will be able to arrest the said gang leader (ISAIAH) so that teachers and pupil can return back to classroom.

The School Management Committee (SMC) chairman, Elder Abrahim revealed to the media that, everyone in the community is afraid to confront those engaging in the act on the school compound for the fear of being attacked, most especially the leader of the gang called ISAIAH who is at larg. Meanwhile the case have been referred to Akim Oda divisional police quarters.
