Assin Akropong; NPP National Security Officer Allegedly Assault NDC Branch Chairman For Exposing Veep.
Assin Akropong in the Assin central constituency of the central region National Democratic Congress (NDC's) polling station Chairman Mr. Matteo Aquah Ampong popularly known as Oko has allegedly been assault by NPP's National security officer know as Kojo Amankwa for Exposing the vice president of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on "the ongoing construction of Assin Akropong-Old road" statement made by the vice president during the NPP manifesto lunch at Cape Coast.
In an exclusive interview with the victim (Oko), he said "I was asking a friend if he was able to monitor the NPP's manifesto program when Dr. Bawumia said the Assin Akropong-Old road construction is ongoing meanwhile the contractor has been at large since last year but the vice president is saying the project is ongoing. I immediately heard someone shutting from a drinking sport threatening; who is that foolish person saying the vice president is lying? then instantly I saw Kojo Amankwa coming out from the spot threatening to beat me up, fortunately for me, neighbours around by then, separated us, so I thought everything is over.
On my way going home, Kojo Amankwa chanced and crossed me and brutalised me on the middle of the road all because I told a friend that the vice president has lied to the people of Assin Akropong.
According to Oko, an official report has been lodged to Assin Akropong police, but he noted that, he will wait up on the police for a while but if he did not receive any favourable response from the police, he will go ahead to consult a spiritual man and course Kojo Amankwa straight away.
Following this, 1st In New tried every possible means to get in touch with Kojo Amankwa (the suspect) for his side of the matter but all efforts yield futile.
Background of the said Road, (Assin Akropong-Old), the elders and the residents in and around the area has previously held several demonstrations against the Municipal Chief Executive of Assin Fosu Municipality, Hon. Nicholas Kofi Baako and other responsible authorities in the Municipality.

Assin Akropong-Wurakese Residents Cries Over Deplorable Nature Of Road
The chiefs and people of Assin Akropong-Wurakese of the Assin Fosu Municipality in the central region have made a passionate appeal to the government through their renowned Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to fix the road network in the area. According to them, the deplorable nature of the road network in the area making the people feel bitter and sometimes wonder if they were part of Ghana.
During a press conference organized by the Assin Akropong-Wurakese Youth Association, the youth leader, Mr Bismarck Owusu, said the people were fed up with failed promises by politicians and said if the road network was not fixed immediately, it would compiled the people to boycott the December elections.
The conference, which was attended by the entire traditional leaders in the above mentioned community to discuss the developmental challenges facing the community and how they could get attention from their MP to improve on their living conditions, one of the elders said, their community had over the years been benefited from their lawmaker, Hon Ken with some basic social amenities such as health facilities, electricity, potable water and others but have been neglected by motorable road, adding that the people were now fed up with excuses by the Municipal Assembly.
The Queen mother Obaahemaa Adwoa Korkoh on her part, said the bad nature of the road from Assin Borofoyeduru through to Akim Akenkansu to Akim Oda had been the cause of many avoidable deaths, especially of pregnant women, businessmen/women and aged who were unable to get a vehicle to attend to works.
speaking to the media, the Queen mother Obaahemaa Adwoa Korkoh said the road from Assin Borofoyeduru through the community to Oda was awarded to a contract and the contractor worked on it for some few days but the contractor had vacated from the site without knowing his whereabouts.
In fact, the residents, motorists and commuters in the above communities have continued to lament the deplorable state of their roads, causing them untold hardships everyday, said one of the elders.
"The deplorable nature of the road is having serious implications on our finances. We have to go to the repairs on a regular basis. Our vehicles are damaged on a daily basis. This is not a pothole but a pot well,” a driver said.
Speaking to some motorists and residents, they said if the rains continue in the coming days, these communities would eventually be cut off from the rest of Assin Fosu and Akim Oda. They added that they would not be surprised if commercial vehicles decide not to ply on the major roads in these communities.
Roads in the Assin Akropong-Wurakese enclave have become a subject of many demonstrations by residents who have constantly complained about the dangers the roads have posed to them over the years.
