The Centre Has Held, And Will Continue To Hold For The Foreseeable Future - Alhassan Salifu Bawah of UEW writes......

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre;

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world”

Chinua Achebe in Things Fall Apart, deploys this opening stanza of William Butler Yeats’s poem: “The Second Coming”, from which the title of the novel is derived, as an epigraph to the novel. In invoking these lines, Achebe hints at the chaos that erupts when a system collapses.

By the grace of the Almighty God, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has survived almost everything thrown at it in the recent past by way of negative media propaganda sponsored by a known crook; a chain of unmerited legal suits; a certain crook leading delegations composed of empty heads to some prominent traditional rulers and high government officials, with the faint hope of destabilizing UEW; some individuals with warped minds also sought the assistance of useless shrines, voodoo and other devilish and demonic spirits in their ill-fated mission of destroying UEW; sponsored violent hooligans demonstrations; and other disgraceful acts, all aimed at removing the undisputed Vice-Chancellor (VC) of UEW, thus Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni, from office. All of which classically failed!

I have stated previously on numerous occasions and will emphasize once again that any attempt to prematurely remove Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni from office as VC of UEW, is a sheer waste of time and resources!

Therefore, anyone who harbours the ambition of becoming the VC of UEW, should lace their shoes to take over from the Reverend Father from 1st October, 2021, and NOT earlier, Insha Allah!

With the position of VC of UEW up for grabs from 1st October, 2021, it makes sense to remind some two (2) key noise makers to put in their applications for the above position.

First, is my brother Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin (the Baker’s son and MP for Effutu). Any subtle move on the part of Afenyo-Markin to sponsor a candidate for the above position in collaboration with traditional rulers and others, whether the said candidate is based in Takoradi, Kumasi or wherever; be he a Reverend Minister, a carpenter or whatever, would be irrational. No Professor worth his salt, after having been appointed VC of UEW will append his signature to illegal contracts, unless such a doomed Professor has resolved to end up at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison or a similar environment.

Therefore, Afenyo-Markin is urged to put in his application for the above position and do as he wishes with UEW from 1st October, 2021, in the highly unlikely outcome that he is successful at the interview.

The next person I will strongly advise to apply for the above upcoming vacant position from 1st October, 2021, is the unfortunate Professor Avoke. This is the opportune time for Professor Avoke to get his position back. No need to waste time and money on sweet-talking lawyers, or ill-conceived violent reinstatement, this time around.

By curtesy of the son of the upright peasant farmer, it is now public knowledge that the Afful-Broni camp, has split. The ‘grateful lot’ continue to stand by the Reverend Father in all conditions, while the ‘ungrateful lot’, walking in the failed footsteps of Afenyo and Co., myopically believe that they can kick the Reverend Father out of office before 1st October, 2021, in order to loot the coffers of UEW for their private gain! What a big joke!

The Mamprusis have an adage that: “Where tigers have failed, what impact can dogs make”? If Afenyo and Ackorlie (tigers), with all their perceived ill-gotten wealth, political connections, and the rumoured shrines, voodoo, etc., have woefully failed in their ill-throughout plan to remove the Reverend Father from the office of VC of UEW, what then can the ‘ungrateful lot’ (dogs), do? Surely, they can only bark by way of their useless and disgraceful signposts!

Intelligence has been picked up in respect of the ‘ungrateful lot’ plan to poison me by putting some magic potion in my food at the least opportunity.

In addition, the plan hatched to hire some assassins to gun me down or butcher me, is well noted.

Furthermore, the plan to approach my mechanics to disable my car that will ultimately lead to a nasty accident endangering my life, has not escaped my radar.

As for the approach to shrines, voodoo priests, mallams, etc. to terminate my life, I laugh!

When deluded people seek the assistance of all or any of the above to kill me, the end result is excellent health and more successes for me.

Intelligence picked up in the last few hours indicate that some elders in Winneba in collaboration with some hired thugs parading as students, intend to attack the University. We are ready for this planned attack. Anyone who dares, will forever regret it!

I wish to use this medium to congratulate Professor Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah, Principal, UEW College of Languages, Ajumako, on his recent promotion to the rank of full Professor. It has to be emphasized that this fine young Professor is the ONLY active service full Professor in UEW at present. May Allah continue to bless and guide Professor Dominic Mensah! Amen!!

The smear campaign conceived by some pathetic individuals a few weeks ago to tarnish the reputation of Professor Dominic Mensah, is not surprising. Am eagerly waiting to whip them to pulp when they rear ugly heads.

  C/R: Assin Oboba Kokorowa Pupils Are Forced To Study In Dilapidated And Death Trap Building The fate of over 500 pupils at the Assin Obobakokrowa D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region hangs in the balance as they learn under dilapidated structures. The the Assin Obobakokrowa D/A Basic School has not seen any major rehabilitation since its establishment in 1970s. Parents and residents in and around the community are appealing for urgent assistance due to the deteriorating condition of their classroom blocks .  The school's infrastructure has become unsafe, forcing pupils to learn under dire circumstances. Parts of the aluminum roofing sheets are rusting away, while their remains hang loosely on the tiny erected concrete pillars. Class sessions end abruptly whenever the clouds gather.  “Our roof is ripping off. And when it rains, it leaks into our classroom, so we have to end classes.  “When it leaks, our books get wet and we are not able...

NPP 2024 Elections Defeat: Assin Central Presented A Weak Parliamentary Candidate ...Constituents Reveals.

  NPP 2024 Elections Defeat: Assin Central Presented A Weak Parliamentary Candidate ...Constituents Reveals. The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) staggering defeat in the 2024 general election has prompted a nationwide introspection, as the party seeks to understand the underlying causes of its loss. One of the most shocking losses was the Assin Central seat, which had been a stronghold for the NPP since 2000 under the leadership of Kennedy Agyapong. In a surprising turn of events, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) managed to wrestle the seat away from the NPP, leaving many to wonder what factors contributed to this unexpected outcome. To gain a deeper understanding of the reasons behind this defeat, independent media personalities engaged with residents in the area, gathering their thoughts and opinions on the matter. The majority of those interviewed attributed the loss to the  unappealing posture of the 2024 NPP candidate for Assin Central, Godfred Nti Anewu, who struggled ...
