Assin-Central NABCO Celebrates A Year Anniversary In A Colourful Manner.

Assin-Central NABCO donates stationery to Alhudha Islamic basic school.

The Assin-Fosu Municipal Secretariat Office of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), on Wednesday donated quantities of stationary to  Alhudha Islamic Basic school in the municipality.

The initiative formed an integral part of series of activities marking the one year anniversary of the organization.

NABCO is one of the flagship programmes of the government to significantly ease the growing unemployment and joblessness  among the youth.
It was officially launched by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 but outdoors on Wednesday,  October 17, 2018.

Speaking at a short but colourful ceremony to present the items, the Municipal NABCO Coordinator, Mr. Sam Bilson,  described the innovative initiative as a blessing and noted  that "it has given hope to a lot of graduates who hitherto had no hopes of employment."
He however, refuted the political twist to the  purpose and sustainability of the programme and underlined the fact that " it has given young Ghanaians the experience for their prospective jobs."

Giving details of activities earmarked for the week long anniversary, Mr Bilson mentioned   donations to schools, Fosu Municipal Health Directorate, clean up exercise, Health-talk, Fire Education, fun games and a dinner ceremony at the Municipal Sports Stadium.

Receiving the items, the Head teacher of the school, Madam Hannah Anin, applauded the  NABCO beneficiaries in the Municipality for the gesture and appealed for more.

She particularly called on the Municipal Assembly to support the school with the needed teaching and learning logistics to enhance academic work.

AFTER YEARS OF MINING IN AKWATIA – GHANA’S NEW ARTIFICIAL LAKE, THE ASUBONE STORY AND OUR TOURISM DRIVE  ABSTRACT.... H. BRAKO Diamonds were first discovered in the Gold Coast Colony (Ghana) near the Birim River close to the town of Abomosu in 1919. The Birim diamond discoveries led mining companies to invest along that river. However, not until 1929 did organized diamond mining begin following additional diamond discoveries made by Ghanaian prospectors in the gravels of Bediebewu streams near Tarkwa. In 1924, the Consolidated African Selection Trust (CAST) was formed and became the major diamond mining company in Ghana. Over 2 million carats were mined by CAST from 1924 to 1939. CAST’s early success led to investment in other diamond exploration and mining ventures in West Africa particularly in Ghana – resulting in the establishment of Great Consolidated Diamond (GCD).  1n 1963 Lake Asubone was created artificially in Asubone near Akwatia in Denkyembour District of Gh...
